LG POLL: IGBO TRADERS DECLARE FOR APC IN EKITI

DEPUTY GOV ASSURES ON GOOD GOVERNANCE AT GRASSROOTS

Igbo traders in major markets in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital,
have declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of
the December 7 local government election.

They pledged to vote massively for all APC chairmanship and
councillorship candidates in the council election in their respective
localities in appreciation of the good governance being enjoyed under
the leadership of Governor Kayode Fayemi.

The Igbo traders made the declaration during house-to-house and market
campaigns led by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, to canvass
support for the APC chairman ship candidate for Ado Ekiti Local
Government, Mrs. Motunde Fajuyi and all the councillorship candidates.

Egbeyemi described the APC as a party that has made positive impact on
the lives of the people of the state and implemented policies that
have improved their standard of living.

While attesting to the integrity and competence of Fajuyi and her
running mate, Mr. Yomi Oso, the Deputy Governor described the duo as
tested, experienced and competent for the offices they are running
for.

He urged the electorate to troop out in large numbers and vote for APC
candidates at the December 7 local government poll to deepen democracy
and replicate Fayemi’s good works at grassroots level.

The climax of the rally was the adoption of Fajuyi and other APC
candidates at the Ogbon Ado junction by the Igbo traders who wielded
their brooms and chanted the party slogan.

The excited traders also chanted solidarity songs in Yoruba and Igbo
languages for APC which they described as “the winning party.”

One of the traders, Mr. Maxwell Obikwelu, said they resolved to vote
APC en masse at the local government election because the government
formed by the party in the state has achieved a lot in the areas of
empowerment and human capital development.

Fajuyi promised not to disappoint the electorate if elected saying
good governance at the grassroots level will be a reality after the
local government poll.

She also reaffirmed her commitment to the populist policies of the
administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

Fajuyi promised to carry out Ado Ekiti beautification project, social
security scheme for the less privileged, youth-based mechanized
agriculture, among others when voted into office.
