Hon. Makinde Araoye (MKD) resolves NANS crisis

Conflict is an intrinsic part of humanity and the National Association of Nigerian Students ( NANS) following the intervention of Honorable Makinde Araoye (MKD) who is the Special Adviser Federal Matters to the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, H.E Dr Kayode Fayemi have once again proved doubters wrong as the recent crisis which birthed factions within the association has been resolved.

Recall that following the election of Comrade Adedayo Sunday Asefon as President of NANS few months ago, a crisis sponsored by fifth columnists ensued resulting in the emergence of Comrade Oyeniyi Mojid popularly known as Aluta Jay as a factional president. The ensuing conflict lingered for a while as both parties could not reach a resolution to address the crisis.

The Special Adviser on Federal Matters to Ekiti State Governor, Hon. Makinde Araoye (MKD) who is passionate about youth development and empowerment, sensing the need for a quick resolution to the lingering conflict called for a reconciliation meeting between Comrade Adedayo Asefon and Comrade Oyeniyi Mojid. The invitation was duly honored by both parties. 

In the meeting, Hon. Makinde Araoye asked the respective leaders to table their grouses and demands while serving as a mediator in ensuring the resolution of the crisis. In his remark, he stated that “peace is not the absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means”. Comrade Oyeniyi tabled his complaints and was followed by Comrade Asefon. Honorable Makinde Araoye (MKD) addressing both Comrades pleaded with them to bury their hatchets in the interest of unity and strength.  He said ‘’The strength of the youth lies in their unity”. He stated that “the goal of conflict resolution is primarily not about victory or defeat, but reaching an understanding and accommodating each other”. 

The factions responded in unison declaring Comrade Asefon Sunday the legitimate and duly elected President of NANS. Comrade Oyeniyi was unequivocal in his submission to the leadership of Comrade Asefon Sunday and pledged his unalloyed loyalty to his administration. They both expressed their gratitude to Honorable Makinde Araoye for his show of exemplary leadership and support for the growth and advancement of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in the country.
